Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini welcomed the first agreement reached at today’s meeting between Ukraine, Russia, the United States and the European Union. “Today’s agreement in Geneva marks a turning point in the Ukrainian crisis, with the opening of dialogue. This is not the start but the beginning of a pathway in which we firmly believed and for which we’ve been working but which was by no means a foregone conclusion”, she declared.
“Now the agreed measures need to be implemented. Tension needs to be eased in the east of Ukraine and all parties need to adopt a responsible stance. And the violence needs to stop, including with the help of the OSCE mission.
It’s vital for the constitutional reform process to proceed quickly and in an inclusive and transparent manner, to the benefit of all Ukrainians and the stability of the region”, she underscored.
