Iraq: Abduction of Turkish Consul in Mosul condemned

The Italian government firmly condemns yesterday’s abduction of Consul General Yilmaz Ozturk and otherstaff of the Turkish Consulate General in Mosul, Iraq. As a country that is both friend and ally to Turkey, the Italian government wishes to extend its solidarity to the Turkish authorities, with whom it assures its maximum willingness to collaborate. As Minister for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini stated yesterday, the international community is called upon to support the region’s governments in their efforts to ensure stability, security and prosperity throughout.
