New Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni had a cordial telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry that centred on Libya, the Middle East peace process and the situation in Ukraine after yesterday’s illegitimate elections in Donbass. The Secretary of State shared the minister’s concerns over developments in Libya and expressed appreciation for Italy’s commitment and diplomatic presence in Tripoli, which is also a major source of support for the United Nations. They closed the conversation with a proposal to meet in Washington in the coming weeks.
