“I am deeply concerned over the dramatic escalation of the violence in Ukraine over recent days, and firmly condemn the indiscriminate separatist attacks that have caused the death of numerous civilians in recent clashes in Mariupol and the Donets Basin”, said Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni.
“There has to be a clear and concrete commitment by all parties concerned, starting with Russia, to end the violence and halt attacks against civilians, the minister continued. “I am still convinced that there is no alternative to a political solution to the Ukraine crisis through the joint implementation of the provisions of the Minsk accords ensuring the rights and territorial unity of Ukraine, Gentiloni concluded.
