Gentiloni–Aguila Saleh meeting

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, received the Speaker of the House of Representatives, President of Libya and Supreme Commander of the Libyan Armed Forces, Aguila Saleh, today 8 April 2015.

During their discussion Gentiloni underscored “Italy’s strong support for the UN-led political dialogue” and expressed the hope that said dialogue can increase its pace. He welcomed Speaker Aguila Saleh’s willingness to work towards the formation of a government of national unity that includes all Libyan groups who reject terrorism.

“An inclusive approach and a government founded on a broad-based consensus are necessary to enable the international community to fully engage in the process of rebuilding and stabilising the country and combating terrorism”, concluded Minister Gentiloni.
