Nuclear negotiations: Gentiloni welcomes the results achieved today in Lausanne

“The results achieved today are good news. On the basis of the key parameters decided, we can work for a complete and definitive agreement by the end of June”. This was the comment of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, on developments on the nuclear negotiations, which resumed in Lausanne on 26 March. This evening, the High Representative, Mogherini, and Minister Zarif gave a joint statement on the result. “Italy has always encouraged every effort to achieve an outcome to these negotiations that would guarantee the solely peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear programme. We appreciate the commitment of all concerned, the determination of the United States and Iran, and especially the role played by the High Representative, Federica Mogherini. We are convinced that the final agreement on the nuclear dossier could have positive effects both on relations with Tehran and on developments in various theatres of crisis”.
