“The humanitarian truce currently in effect in Yemen is crucial to establishing a direct flow of aid to the civilians affected by the conflict, who are in dire need”, Minister for Foreign Affairs Gentiloni said. “It is essential that all parties respect the truce”, he continued, “so as to facilitate the delivery of food, medicines and other essentials”.
In line with United Nations Under-Secretary General Valerie Amos recent request, “Italy underscores the need for all humanitarian aid to be funnelled through existing UN and other international humanitarian organisation channels, with a view to calming and not exacerbating tensions”, the minister concluded.
