Refugee emergency in Serbia: intervention by Italian Development Cooperation

Italy is responding to the appeal by the Serbian authorities, who are faced with a significant influx of refugees arriving from the Middle East and heading for northern Europe. Italian Development Cooperation has arranged funding of 100,000 euro for the Serbian Red Cross for initial assistance activities.

The Italian funding is channelled through the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Geneva. It will enable the Serbian Red Cross to provide medical assistance and distribute medicines and food to the most vulnerable categories of refugees in the country’s reception centres.
