Libya: Gentiloni, talks in the final stretch

Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni expressed his deep appreciation for the new step forward taken at Skherat in recent days, and in particular between yesterday and today, on the complex negotiations over the settlement of the Libyan crisis.
“We are in the final stretch now, and the next week will be crucial in forging an agreement among the components of the Libyan political dialogue”Gentiloni said.
“It is essential that all the Libyan parties pledge their commitment in a spirit of moderation and equilibrium on an inclusive accord based on the agreements achieved by United Nations Special Envoy Bernardino Leon. The incoming accord on the formation of a new unity government”, the minister concluded, “should pave the way to the next phase in the country’s pacification and stabilisation by which Libya will finally be able to turn the page and come back on the road towards reconciliation and democratic development”
