The Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry, Michele Valensise, has decided to soon resign his office and leave the Ministry to undertake new professional experiences.
Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni addressed a warm thanks to Ambassador Valensise for his intense and valuable work. Ambassador Valensise was appointed secretary general in July 2012 and, in addition to Mr Gentiloni, has worked with four more foreign ministers who have headed Italy’s foreign policy over the years of his term in office.
Ambassador Valensise leaves the diplomatic service after a brilliant career in which he held relevant positions both in Italy and abroad, including Head of the Press Service, Chief of Staff and Ambassador in Sarajevo, Brasilia and Berlin.
“I am very grateful to Ambassador Valensise – said Minister Gentiloni – for the contribution he made to Italy’s international actions and to managing and innovating the delicate and complex machinery of the Farnesina, with a deep sense of the institutions, professionalism and commitment. On behalf of myself and of the whole Ministry, I wish him all the best for his future.”
