“Italian, Living Language”: the Joint Action for the Italian Language in the World opens in Florence on Monday

The second edition of the Joint Action for the Italian Language in the World, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation​ will open in Florence on Monday 17.
 
Deputy Foreign Minister, Mario Giro, who promoted the initiative, said: “This second edition of the Joint Action is entitled “Italian, a living language” and it will explore the promotion of the Italian language and culture abroad with a special focus on the role of the Italian business world and the creative productions of Brand Italy. The initiative will take place during the 16th Week of the Italian Language in the World (17 – 23 October 2016), dedicated to the theme “Italian and Creativity: Brands and Lifestyles, Fashion and Design”.Deputy Minister Giro then remarked that the event is assuming growing importance: “In addition to the presence of representatives of the business world, universities, experts in language and cultural promotion, this year the Joint Action will also benefit from the presence of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.”Paolo Gentiloni, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will open the conference.Deputy Foreign Minister, Mario Giro, added: “The foreigners around the world who study Italian are now 2.3 million. Two years ago they were 1.5 million. The constant growth in interest for our language worldwide represents a fantastic factor for projecting the image of Italy, enhancing its economic, cultural appeal abroad, also as a tourism destination.”
