At the 26th Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which was held in Istanbul on 5 and 6 October, Italy was the first of the European Countries to be elected to the Organisation’s Council of Administration and to the Postal Operations Council.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paolo Gentiloni, said: “with its election to the governing bodies of the UPU, Italy confirms its primacy in the international postal sector.”
This result, which is evidence of the important contribution of Poste Italiane to the UPU and of the excellent relations established with postal services throughout the world, was achieved also thanks to the intense election campaign carried out by the Foreign Ministry in conjunction with Poste Italiane.
