Meeting between Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentiloni, and the Chairman of the National Oil Company, Mustafa Sanallah

Minister Gentiloni received today at the Farnesina the Chairman of the National Oil Company (NOC), Mustafa Sanallah, expressing his sincere appreciation for the role Mr Sanallah has played in keeping the National Oil Company independent, united and fully operational also through the most difficult phases of the Libyan transition.Mr Sanallah illustrated to Gentiloni the current state of Libya’s energy sector and its development prospects, highlighting the excellent cooperation with Italy and reconfirming his commitment to keep the NOC out of the political arena and focused on fulfilling its priority goal of generating the resources necessary for Libya’s economic recovery and to improve the living conditions of its population.Gentiloni confirmed Italy’s full and staunch support to Libya, also through the promotion of intra-Libyan economic dialogue, which was discussed in Rome on 17 November, at a crucial time when the institutions participating in the Political Agreement are working at building a solid economic basis with a view to finding rapid solutions to the citizens’ daily problems, while laying the grounds for the Country’s stable growth.
