Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, said: “I have been following with the utmost attention the news on the aftermath of the terrible attack which took place in Istanbul on the night of 1 January. Turkish authorities have announced that they have completed the process of identifying the victims of the attack. Thus, we can now say that there are no Italians among the casualties. In these days our Consulate General in Istanbul and the Ministry’s Crisis Unit have been working with great determination, giving their utmost effort to provide proper assistance to our compatriots, who found themselves in the place where the attack took place, and also to their family members and friends, who were asking for information about them. Proper assistance and support by the institutions to Italian citizens who experience moments of difficulty, can alleviate discomfort and preoccupation.”
