Promoting Italy’s presence in Southeast Asia

On 18 and 19 January in Jakarta, the headquarters of the Secretariat of ASEAN, the Italian Ambassadors accredited to the 10 Southeast Asian Countries, will study an operational strategy to promote Italy’s presence on a market with 630 million inhabitants, an estimated average GDP growth of 5.3% in 2017, a need for infrastructure worth over 500 billion euros and a 105% growth forecast in consumer spending by 2030.

“It is an ever-more integrated emerging market thanks to last year’s establishment of the ASEAN Community, an area of strong economic growth and stability, offering remarkable opportunities to Italian companies,” said Undersecretary Della Vedova, who is chairing the event. Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano will participate in tomorrow’s meeting via videoconferencing.

The conclusions will serve as guidelines for the Italian Ambassadors in the region.
