From the moment it received news of the detention of Dr Ahmadreza Djalali, the Foreign Ministry activated its communication channels with Iranian authorities to underscore the attention and concern with which Italy is following the case in the light of the ties he has with the University of Eastern Piedmont and its scientific community, and to obtain information on his condition and ask that he may soon return to his family.
Together with other European partners, the Italian Foreign Ministry and the Embassy in Tehran will continue to closely follow the case. In the meantime, Iranian authorities have told the Italian Foreign Ministry and the Embassy in Tehran that investigations are still under way and that no verdict has been passed yet.
