Minister Alfano in Brussels tomorrow for Syria Conference

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, will be attending the Syria Conference in Brussels tomorrow. The opening session will begin at 9:30 in the Europa Building, with opening remarks by the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, and the EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini.

A group photo is scheduled for approximately 10:30 and the plenary session of the Conference will begin at 10:45. This will be dedicated to the future of Syria and supporting the political negotiation under the auspices of the UN, in the presence of the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Staffan De Mistura. Minister Alfano is scheduled to speak at 11:00.

At the end of the plenary session, at 13:30, Minister Alfano and High Representative Mogherini will visit the “Rising from destruction: Ebla, Nimrud, Palmira” exhibition set up in the Justus Lipsius building.

In the afternoon, Minister Alfano will attend the Ministerial Meeting on “Humanitarian Crises in the Horn of Africa”.
