The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano:
“Our companies are obtaining extraordinary results on international markets, testifying to the excellence of Made-in-Italy products and to the incessant efforts of the Government to support and promote Italian enterprises and products around the world,” said Minister Alfano, referring to the latest export data that show a 14.5% rise in the first quarter of 2017 over the same period of the previous year.
“The Foreign Ministry and its diplomatic network are increasingly assisting our companies to assure the success of Brand Italy in the world and the internationalisation of our production system. The Prometeia survey confirms the role played by the diplomatic network in securing orders which drive up exports especially in the machinery sector (capital equipment +8,3%) and that in the 2014-2015 period generated 16.4 billion euros, a value added worth 1.1% of GDP, and approximately 240,000 more employed workers. Particularly significant was the growth of exports to China (+32,3%), where Brand Italy has improved its positioning in the past few years.”
