Undersecretary of State Amendola at the swearing-in ceremony for Hassan Rohani’s second mandate as President of the Islamic Republic of Iran

The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincenzo Amendola, will  represent Minister Alfano in the oath-taking ceremony for Hassan Rohani’s second mandate as President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to take place in Tehran on 5 August.

Hassan Rohani was confirmed President of the Republic on 19 May, with 57% of the votes in favour. The result of the elections endorsed Rohani’s moderate policy which was consolidated during last year’s parliamentary elections.
The ceremony will take place at the Majlis, the Iranian Parliament, and will be attended by over 100 foreign delegations.
The Undersecretary’s mission will also include a number of bilateral meetings on themes of common interest for the two countries,  such as the agreement on Iran’s nuclear power plan and the regional crises with special attention to the Persian Gulf crisis and on the evolution of the situation in the Syrian-Iraqi area. In his mission in Tehran, the representative of the Italian government will be assisted by the Director General for Political Affairs, Ambassador Luca Giansanti, and by the Ambassador of Italy to Iran, Mauro Conciatori.
