“Libya’s southern neighbouring Countries are the focus of our development actions: I have in fact arranged for the approval of new humanitarian and development initiatives for a total of 7 million euros for vulnerable groups in Chad and Niger through the Italian Cooperation service,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano.
“More specifically, 4 million are earmarked for initiatives in Niger and include interventions in the area of health, water supply, food security, education and economic support for the more vulnerable groups. The other 3 million are reserved to Chad and will instead be used for the prevention and treatment of acute malnutrition and to provide food assistance and health care, especially to minors,” Minister Alfano added. Chad and Niger are strategic priority partners for Italian cooperation actions insofar as they are transit Countries bordering with Libya.
