Vincenzo Amendola, the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, wound up a two-day diplomatic mission to Cyprus today

Vincenzo Amendola, the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, wound up a two-day diplomatic mission to Cyprus today. The representative of the Italian Government has been in the capital, Nicosia, since yesterday, where he met with the Minister of Health, George Pamboridis, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Kasoulides.

Bilateral relations and migration issues were the main topics of discussion with the representatives of the Cyprus government. There was also an exchange of views on the “Cyprus Question” in view of the meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations starting in New York next week. Resolution of this issue could benefit both citizens of the island and the entire area in general. Mr Amendola stated that Italy has followed the negotiations very closely, and believes that any difficulties can be overcome. It was agreed that bilateral relations between the two countries were excellent, thanks in part to a relaunching in recent years and increased cooperation in a number of different sectors.
