“I am particularly pleased at how strong our trade dealings are: Italy is Azerbajain’s leading European trading partner and its second-largest at global level. We are the leading importer of Azerbaijani products and the main purchaser of energy resources. Our aim is to further boost this economic partnership”. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano expressed these thoughts in a telephone conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Elmar Mammadyarov.
The two Ministers also discussed international matters. In view of the Italian Presidency of the OSCE, Alfano reaffirmed the central role played by this Vienna-based organisation in preventing the deterioration of security conditions and promoting peaceful, sustainable solutions to regional crises”.
