“We have a decade-long strategic partnership with Rumania, also consolidated by the presence of a very numerous Rumanian community in Italy. Italy has been for years among Rumania’s major trade partners, with trade volumes of 12.95 billion euros and more than 23,000 companies active on the Rumanian territory. Also at European level, we have a strong cooperation, which is our interest to strengthen even further also in view of the first Rumanian Presidency of the EU Council in the first semester of 2019.”
The statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, ahead of the mission that we will perform in Bucharest on 17 January, when he will meet the Head of State Iohannis and the Foreign Minister Melescanu, in addition to meeting with the representatives of the Italian community present in Rumania.
