Alfano: “I firmly condemn the attack perpetrated today against the Palestinian Prime Minister”

“I firmly condemn the attack perpetrated today against Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, which fortunately claimed no victims and into which it will be essential to conduct an in-depth investigation in order to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, on commenting what happened today in the Gaza Strip.

Italy’s chief diplomat went on: “I hope that this serious episode will not undermine the efforts that Palestinian factions are making to unite the West Bank and Gaza under a single legitimate Palestinian Authority, thus achieving national reconciliation, an important goal not only in order to improve the living conditions of the Palestinian people, especially the population of the Gaza Strip, but also in the perspective of a two-State solution.”
