Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, said: “We firmly condemn the terrorist attack carried out this morning in Tripoli against the Libyan High National Election Commission. Our sympathy and heartfelt condolences go to the families hit in the attack, and we wish a prompt recovery to the injured. Once again, we reiterate our support to Libya’s institutions in such a difficult moment. Terrorism has no right to exist in Libya, and those who are responsible for the attack must be identified as soon as possible and brought to justice. Such a terrible act of violence must not dishearten the effort of reconciliation to move forward in the political process of the country, with a view to holding free and democratic elections.”
