Undersecretary Merlo on a diplomatic mission to Panama

The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Senator Ricardo Merlo, currently on an official diplomatic mission to Panama, visited the Centro Logístico Regional de Asistencia Humanitaria today. He was accompanied by María Luísa Navarro, Vice Minister of Multilateral Affairs and Cooperation, and the Italian Ambassador to Panama, Marcello Apicella.

Undersecretary Merlo then visited the expanded Panama Canal, referring to it as “a source of Italian pride”. It was “worked on by big Italian companies like Salini Impregilo, a brand that is highly esteemed throughout the world, and Cimolai, a Pordenone-based company”.

“We are working hard as a government, in close cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Panama, to strengthen commercial and economic ties between the two countries. Merlo concluded by saying “both the government and embassy will continue to work together to create the best opportunities for more Italian companies to avail of the opportunities offered by this Central American country.”
