Referring to the events that are unfolding in Venezuela, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, confirms the following: “We fully endorse the joint declaration that the European Union Member States released today on the situation in Venezuela, which we have contributed to drafting. With our heartfelt sympathy for the Venezuelan people, many of whom are of Italian descent, in the face of the dramatic ongoing events, we express our closeness to the families of the victims. We call for an effective national reconciliation and constructive initiatives aimed at avoiding serious and negative developments, assuring respect for fundamental rights and enabling a prompt return to democratic legitimacy, guaranteed by free and transparent new elections.”
