Minister Moavero Milanesi meets with the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, Linas Linkevicius

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, had a meeting with the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, Linas Linkevicius, at the Farnesina today.

The two ministers had a thorough exchange of views on the relevant issues in the bilateral relations between the two Countries. They acknowledged that dialogue has recently intensified, especially on foreign policy issues, following the visit to Lithuania by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, which is now being reciprocated by the visit to Rome by President Grybauskaite. They also acknowledged the significant growth in economic and trade relations and the fruitful cooperation in the field of culture, in addition to recalling the opportunities pointed out at the Italian-Lithuanian Business Forum held in Vilnius last October.  

The two Ministers went on to discuss the main issues relative to the European Union, in the perspective of the upcoming European meetings, the uncertainty inherent to Brexit, the European Parliament May elections, with a special focus on the ongoing negotiations for the Multi-annual Financial Framework 2021-2027 and the regulation of migration flows. Lastly, they discussed the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers held in Washington on 3 and 4 April.
