“Tomorrow we will commemorate the third and very sad anniversary of the Dhaka massacre in which nine Italian citizens were killed. We are close to the families of the victims, with sincere affection and solidarity keeping alive the memory of their beloved ones. Commemorating those who died in heinous terrorist attacks is a way for a Nation to pay tribute to them and make the families of the victims feel the embrace of their countrymen,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which through its Crisis Unit provided the victims’ families with immediate support right after the attack, will be represented in Dhaka on 1 July by the Director General for Italians Abroad, Luigi Vignali. A ceremony to commemorate the victims will be held at the Italian Embassy to Bangladesh at the presence of the Italian Ambassador. Some family members of the victims and representatives of local authorities will be attending the ceremony. The Italian Government is firmly committed to combat terrorism and confirms its support to the competent Bengali authorities with a view to bringing to justice all the perpetrators of the attack as soon as possible.
