Case of climber Cassandro – Update

The Foreign Ministry and the Italian Embassy in Pakistan continue to follow the case of the Italian mountain climber Francesco Cassardo, who suffered an injury on the Gasherbrum VII, by continuously keeping in contact with his family. Also Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi is being constantly kept informed. Today’s last contact between the Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Unit and the climber’s brother was at around 11 p.m. local time in Pakistan. Tomorrow morning, around 5:30 a.m. Islamabad time, the helicopter made available by Pakistani authorities is scheduled to take off to rescue Francesco Cassardo, weather conditions permitting.
