The German and Italian Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Heiko Maas and Enzo Moavero, had yesterday a phone conversation referring to the issue of migration in the Mediterranean sea and the disembarkation of rescued persons. Both ministers shared their common view on the urgent need of a better, working, fair and genuine European governance of it, enabling to go beyond case by case solutions. In view of the upcoming meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers, to be held in Helsinki on the 29th and 30th of August, they agreed to speed up the reflection with their European colleagues towards concrete results, complying with the European principle of solidarity and fair sharing of responsibility.
