Minister Di Maio appoints Ambassador Sequi to be his Chief of Staff

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, appointed Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, at present the Italian Ambassador in Beijing, to be his Chief of Staff.

“In these years I, as Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development, have had the opportunity to personally verify the important role played by the Italian diplomatic corps in the world,” said Minister Di Maio. He went on: “Foreign policy, brought forward within the framework of the alliances to which we are traditionally and historically bound, can offer our Country an opportunity of growth. During my term as Minister of Economic Development, I took firm action to have Italy join the ‘New Silk Road’ project: a new great opportunity for our companies. This is only one of the many projects on which Ambassador Ettore Sequi has worked in his long career. And it will be an honour for me to have him as my Chief of Staff at the Foreign Ministry.

Sequi is a diplomat with a long-standing experience, foresightedness, dynamic and knowledgeable, with whom I am sure we will successfully work to maintain Italy at centre-stage on the international scene.”
