Undersecretary Ivan Scalfarotto attended the inauguration of the Milan-Shanghai Furniture Show which since its inception in 2016 has represented a major opportunity to promote Italian craftsmanship, interior decoration and design in China. This year’s edition marks the highlight of the programme of institutional events that celebrate the 40th anniversary of the twinning between the two cities. “Italy is the number one furniture supplier of the Chinese market,” said the Undersecretary. “Thanks to our Government’s action and to the commitment of all relevant stakeholders, we have been successful in enhancing Italy’s culture of design and its high quality in a complex, yet stimulating, market as the Chinese one.”
Ahead of the opening ceremony, Undersecretary Scalfarotto met with the President of the European Chamber of Commerce in China, Jorg Wuttke, and paid a visit to the headquarters of the top Asian and world second largest online travel company with which ENIT [the Italian Tourist Board] and our diplomatic network in China have launched seeeral cooperation initiatives to promote Italy’s less popular tourist destinations.
