Ivan Scalfarotto, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, visited the MICAM and MIPEL trade fairs dedicated to the footwear and leather goods sectors. The event opened yesterday afternoon in the presence of Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio.
“These are realities of absolute importance for an exporting country like ours. The figures speak for themselves: the two sectors, on the whole, invoice almost 22 billion euros, employ 110,000 people and export over 80% of production,” said Scalfarotto. “We have just averted a new wave of duties from the USA but the coronavirus, Brexit, trade tensions are just some of the unknowns that still weigh on our companies. Right now, more than ever, we need to be there as a government alongside businesses to relaunch Made in Italy.”
