Undersecretary Manlio Di Stefano today visited Algiers to participate in the first meeting of the Bilateral Technical Commission for the definition of the maritime border between Italy and Algeria and for a series of consultations with some representatives of the Algerian government.
“We aim to resolve the issue through a shared and rapid solution. Such a solution should be reached through diplomacy and political understanding between peoples and friendly governments”, the only means we consider useful, said the Undersecretary.
The Undersecretary also met the Minister of Energy Attar, the Minister of Telecommunications Boumzar and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kaid. They discussed essential topics of political, economic, energy and digital cooperation.
“Bilateral relations are based on a strong and constantly strengthening strategic partnership” – said the Undersecretary – “and for us, Algiers is a key strategic partner in the Mediterranean region”.
