Undersecretary Di Stefano spoke today at the opening of the 32nd edition of BI.MU, the first Italian machine tool fair and, at the same time, at the General Assembly of ANIMA, Confindustria Meccanica Varia.
“Your sector has always been characterized by high quality, ability to renew itself, and a strong propensity to export – said the Undersecretary. – “Italy is one of the undisputed leaders in the sector on a global level. I would like to thank you because it is also thanks to this fair that Italy is great in this sector”.
The Italian machine tool industry (which also includes robots, digital manufacturing, and automation) employs over 33,000 people distributed in about 350 companies. Production, in 2019, exceeded 6.5 billion euros with 3.6 billion euros in exports.
“Despite the significant decrease of almost a third in production” – continued the Undersecretary – “compared to the first half of 2019, I am sure that in the near future this, like many other sectors, will be able to overcome the obstacle of these months and resume the path of growth.
“The Government is constantly working to support the industrial sector” – concluded Di Stefano – “as we have shown with the Export Pact, and as we will continue to do concretely using the new resources of the Recovery Fund”.
