Bosnia-Herzegovina

Italy is closely following the situation unfolding in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the wake of the closure of the Lipa migrant camp. The humanitarian condition of migrants and asylum seekers currently left without accommodation and access to essential services is of great concern.

To this end, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has allocated up to 500,000 euros to the Red Cross operating on the ground there and has asked the European Commission to take action to alleviate the suffering of those affected.

Italy also urges the central and local Bosnia-Herzegovina Authorities to urgently find an alternative solution that can provide the necessary assistance to migrants and asylum seekers, especially in view of the current weather conditions and difficulties related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
