The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, had a telephone conversation today with the new US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken. During the conversation, the two Ministers reported excellent bilateral relations, focusing on the key issues of common interest, including Libya, NATO cooperation, the fight against terrorism, the Navalny case, and Russia’s relations. In wishing Secretary of State Blinken all the best in his work, Minister Di Maio reaffirmed Italy and the United States’ deep friendship. In light of Italy’s current G-20 Presidency, he also confirmed the desire to cooperate to give new impetus to an effective multilateralism that can provide adequate responses to the major global challenges, starting with the fight against the pandemic.
