A humanitarian cargo of over 10 tonnes of medical supplies from the Italian Cooperation system has arrived today at the port of Tripoli from the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) in Brindisi. The relief goods consist of 1 million face masks, emergency health kits, medical-surgical equipment and drugs for treating non-infectious diseases and will serve to strengthen the assistance activities carried out by Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control for the vulnerable sectors of the Libyan population and the migrants and refugees in the country. The initiative is part of Italy’s longstanding activity in support of the Libyan people and is linked to enhanced cooperation in health matters between the two countries, especially with a view to combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
