On the occasion of the World Intellectual Property Day, Deputy Minister Manlio Di Stefano has spoken at the webinar held today on “Intellectual Property serving companies in foreign markets” organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the ICE Agency.
While opening the event, the Deputy Minister has said: “Almost half of Italy’s GDP and almost a third of workers belong to companies amply based on intellectual property rights”. He has continued: “Given that this intangible capital is a decisive factor in the competitiveness of our companies in strategic sectors, we have to step up our efforts to effectively safeguard this inestimable wealth”.
He has added: “As part of this commitment and taking note of the requests of numerous trade associations that I have met personally, we have promoted new professionals in our foreign network that focus specifically on the intellectual property sector”.
The Deputy Minister has concluded: “Preventing and combating imitation of products and services means preserving shares in international trade that have been legitimately achieved and looking for ways to extend them, but it also means opposing a game in which everyone stands to lose: the Country in terms of lower tax revenue; consumers who pay excessively high prices for poor quality items and, obviously, workers”.
