Strengthening cooperation on migration and security issues will be at the center of the talks that Minister Luigi Di Maio will hold today and tomorrow during his two-day visit to Bamako, Mali’s capital. Today the Minister’s agenda includes meetings with Prime Minister Moctar Ouane, Minister of Foreign Affairs Zeini Moulaye and Minister of Malians Abroad and African Integration Alhamdou Ag Ilyene. Tomorrow, 9 April, he will meet with Transition President Bah N’Daw and Vice President Assimi Goita.
Mali is Italy’s strategic partner in many priority dossiers, such as Libya, the management of migratory flows, and the Sahel’s stability. The mission to Mali falls within the priority framework where the African continent is vital for our country, as demonstrated by the special attention devoted to the African continent by the Italian G20 Presidency.
