The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, today held talks with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Najla Al Mangush.
The Ministers reaffirmed the strategic nature of relations between Italy and Libya and the shared desire to continue strengthening the bilateral partnership. They reviewed the main areas of bilateral cooperation, including cooperation on migration issues.
Minister Di Maio reiterated Italy’s commitment to the lasting stabilisation of Libya, highlighting the importance of concluding the electoral process and the withdrawal of all foreign fighters and mercenaries from the country.
Minister Di Maio then highlighted the importance of all Libyan actors ensuring constructive cooperation with the new UN Special Adviser Stephanie Williams.
