Today, the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Hon. Benedetto Della Vedova, presented the priorities of the Italian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to the Permanent Council of the OSCE: recommitting to shared principles and values; enhancing women’s empowerment, the rights of children and adolescents, and building a people-centred future.
Undersecretary Della Vedova said “the OSCE and the Council of Europe share a common mission: to interact and cooperate in order to build frameworks of commitments and rules that ensure peace and security in view of the all-encompassing approach to security promoted by the OSCE. Italy attaches great importance to the cooperation between the two organisations, and undertakes to take every opportunity to capitalise on that cooperation and promote it in the context of its Chairmanship”.
The presentation of the priorities and activities of the Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to the Permanent Council of the OSCE falls within the scope of the constant cooperation and regular meetings between the two Organisations (on the four priority sectors: tackling terrorism, combatting human trafficking, promoting tolerance and fighting against discrimination, protection of the rights of people who belong to national minorities).
