Meeting between Secretary General Sequi and Spanish State Secretary Navarro

Today, the Secretary General of the Farnesina, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, met with the Spanish State Secretary for the European Union, Ambassador Pascual Navarro, to discuss key bilateral, European, and international issues.

Ambassador Sequi expressed satisfaction for the progress made in the Italian-Spanish relations following the Palma de Mallorca inter-governmental summit of 25 November 2020, as confirmed by the numerous bilateral initiatives underway between the two governments’ administrations. Sequi expressed his wish to establish regular contacts between the national authorities in charge of implementing the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNNR) in the light of the synergies existing between the Italian and Spanish plans.

Ambassador Sequi and State Secretary Navarro condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and examined the actions adopted at European level, including those taken in favour of Moldova. The talks also made it possible to exchange opinions on the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
