Farnesina Secretary General, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, met with the Spanish Ambassador, Miguel Ángel Fernández-Palacios Martínez.
Ambassador Sequi reaffirmed the importance of cooperation between Italy and Spain in light of their common belonging to the European and Atlantic families and their Mediterranean vocation. Ambassador Sequi stressed the opportunity to continue the work started after the intergovernmental Summit in Palma de Mallorca on 25 November 2020.
Ambassador Sequi and Ambassador Fernández-Palacios acknowledged the convergence of positions between Rome and Madrid on many issues on the European agenda and reiterated the opportunity to carry on the coordination in view of the Presidency of the Council of the EU that Spain will hold in the second semester of 2023.
Sequi e Fernández-Palacios also agreed on the need for close discussion on the main international crises, starting from the situation in Ukraine, and the challenges in the Mediterranean.
