The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Hon. Antonio Tajani, had a telephone conversation today with the American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken. Minister Tajani confirmed the absolute priority Italy assigns to its relationship with the United States. He expressed his intention to further strengthen the two countries’ excellent bilateral relations and pursue their common commitment to address global challenges. The Minister and the Secretary of State agreed on the importance of continuing to work together to ensure peace and justice in Ukraine by providing ongoing support to Kiev and maintaining a position of the utmost firmness with respect to the Russian Federation.
Both sides confirmed their commitment to enhance their effective cooperation and close coordination at the bilateral level, in the contexts of NATO, the G7 and EU-USA relations, in order to promote Euro-Atlantic security and support multilateralism and the rules-based international order.
