The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, is in Paris today, 13 December 2022, delegated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, to attend the International Conference “Standing with the Ukrainian People”.

The initiative, launched by French President Macron and Ukrainian President Zelensky, aims to improve coordination among international donors and create a common coordination aid platform, extending the EU civil protection mechanism to other States and international bodies. The overall aim is to meet Ukraine’s immediate needs (such as the preservation of civil infrastructures in the fields of energy, water, food supply, health and transportation).

“Today, it is essential to ensure the functional capacity of Ukraine’s critical and civilian infrastructures, in the face of the massive destructions caused by the brutal Russian bombing and the further threat posed by the drop in temperature,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Tajani, at the same time recalling that “in the face of this humanitarian crisis, Italy rapidly mobilised its resources to meet the most urgent needs through financial contributions and material aid.”

Tajani added: “The Italian Government will continue to work with all its partners, and in all international coordination bodies, to play a leading role.”
