The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, is in Brussels to take part in the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union.

The Council, chaired by High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, will exchange views on Russian aggression against Ukraine and on the situation in the Sahel and in the coastal countries of West Africa. Among current issues, the 27 members will discuss in particular the situations in Iran, South Caucasus, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Montenegro and Ethiopia.

Prior to the start of the Council, Austria organised an informal breakfast meeting between the Ministers and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Mariano Grossi, focusing in particular on Ukraine and Iran. A working breakfast with the Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammad Ibrahim Shtayyeh, is also scheduled to allow for an informal exchange of views.
In the margins of the Council meeting, bilateral meetings with Minister Tajani are also planned.
