Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani is on a mission to Brussels to attend the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union.
Deputy Prime Minister Tajani attended a meeting organised by the Foreign Ministers of Spain and Portugal on 19 February to discuss relations with Latin American and Caribbean countries ahead of the EU-CELAC Summit scheduled for next July.
The Foreign Affairs Council will begin on the morning of 20 February with a discussion with Russian dissident Garry Kasparov. It will be followed by an exchange of views on Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The 27 ministers will then discuss Afghanistan and informally exchange views on this matter with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group, Amina Mohammed, who will join ministers via videoconference. The Ministers will then exchange views on climate and energy diplomacy, and on the main current international issues.
Lastly, Deputy President Tajani will have bilateral talks with Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu, who will be in Brussels to attend a working lunch with the 27 ministers.
