The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, is in Luxembourg to attend the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union.
The Council, chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, will hold an exchange of views on the Russian aggression against Ukraine, following a brief speech by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba via videoconference.
The Council will then discuss the EU Action Plan on the geopolitical consequences of Russia’s war of aggression and will hold a debate on the main topical issues, focusing in particular on Sudan, Tunisia, Moldova and China.
The works of the Council will be preceded by an informal lunch attended by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland, Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir, while a working lunch with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, is planned.
In the margins of the Council, Hon. Minister Tajani will meet Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić for talks ahead of the 4th Council of Europe Summit scheduled for 16-17 May in Rejkyavik.
